Hello Friends,
sense the crisp & bright tone of an intuition
Intuitive insights are clear, crisp and bright. They are light. They have a 'tone' to them, an 'ambience,' a 'vibe' we can learn to recognize.
Intuitive guidance is crystal, it pings, it rings.
That's one way we can tell them from thoughts that are heavier, denser. Untrue thoughts are more contracted, restrictive, heavier.
I sometimes just know it is time to call a business partner, a person has cancer in a particular location in the body,
she will get pregnant in September, it is a good time to tell a particular story, or it would be beneficial to change jobs now and it has to do with flower petals.
I couldn't have possibly known some of these things and certainly not with clarity, but they had 'the tone' to them so I recognized they were intuitive guidance.
I might have ignored them otherwise.
Intuitions aren't muddled, heavy or even confusing. Even when we aren't sure what an intuition means, they are more curious or surprising (lighter) than confusing (heavier). Intuitions often make you feel uplifted, enthusiastic, excited, tingly or curious.
They aren't dark or discouraging.
Even when I see situations that are difficult, like a critical illness, there is a crispness to it; it is only judgments and thoughts of the situation that
later create a disturbing vibe.
'after thoughts' that stop intuitions are more like static and mud
Be aware that sometimes after getting an intuition, our mind may then quite quickly interject thoughts to try to reason it away. These thoughts can be heavy, dense, static-like, contracted, more tense.
For example, 'I can't do that, I don't have enough money.' 'But what will my friends think?' 'But that's too risky.' 'But how could I know that?' 'But what if I fail.'
Those thoughts are doubts and fears (especially if they start with the word "but", and they have a static noise type of tone to them; more like a cloudy sky then a clear sky, more like thick sludgy water than clear water. Also, the intuition comes first.
try it yourself now
Right now, imagine you can see a thought or feel it. Bring to your attention a choice you are considering. Ask your intuition, does it feel light, open, expansive, crisp, clear? Or does it feel heavy, closed, restrictive, hazy, muddy?
How would you describe it and how do you feel as you think that thought? What is good for you, will be light and expansive.
Now bring to your attention to an alternative choice. (e.g., if you were considering moving, now considering staying...if you were considering one way to solve a problem, now consider another). How does this feel?
Comparing can be very helpful information. Now decide you will start noticing the vibration of what is coming to your mind all during this week.
don't get too hung up on thoughts vs intuition
Even while you are focusing on noticing the difference between an intuition and a thought, I encourage you take the whole process very lightly. Since intuition is subtle, it can take practice to notice. And keep in mind, that if you still aren't sure if something is an intuition or a thought-- a good idea is a good idea, wherever it comes from so use it! You see, true thoughts will still be clear, expansive, open and light (sometimes even as light as an intuition). Only untrue thoughts will be restrictive. You can follow both thoughts and intuitions that leave you feeling light...so no need to get too caught up on if it is an intuition or thought, but rather...is it light or heavy.
Noticing the vibration or tone of what comes to your mind and senses makes you more receptive to insights that are wise and helpful, as well as thoughts that are weakening and can use revision. You may want to check out the
